چکیده

In this paper we explore the possibility of capturing color trends and understanding the rationale behind the popularity of a color. To this end, we propose using a preference disaggregation approach from the field of MultiCriteria Decision Analysis. The main objective is to identify the criteria aggregation model that underlies the global preference of a color. We introduce a new disaggregation method based on the well-known UTASTAR algorithm able to represent preferences by means of non-monotonic utility functions. The method is applied to a large database of ranked colors, from three different years, based on the information published on the webpage of an international creative community. Non-monotone marginal utility functions from each of the coordinates are obtained for each year. These functions contain the color preference information captured, in an understandable way.

Non-Monotone Adaptive Submodular Maximization

A wide range of AI problems, such as sensor placement, active learning, and network influence maximization, require sequentially selecting elements from a large set with the goal of optimizing the utility of the selected subset. Moreover, each element that is picked may provide stochastic feedback, which can be used to make smarter decisions about future selections. Finding efficient policies f...

Modeling non-monotone risk aversion using SAHARA utility functions

We develop a new class of utility functions, SAHARA utility, with the distinguishing feature that it allows absolute risk aversion to be non-monotone and implements the assumption that agents may become less risk-averse for very low values of wealth. The class contains the well-known exponential and power utility functions as limiting cases. We investigate the optimal investment problem under S...

GENERALIZED POSITIVE DEFINITE FUNCTIONS AND COMPLETELY MONOTONE FUNCTIONS ON FOUNDATION SEMIGROUPS

A general notion of completely monotone functionals on an ordered Banach algebra B into a proper H*-algebra A with an integral representation for such functionals is given. As an application of this result we have obtained a characterization for the generalized completely continuous monotone functions on weighted foundation semigroups. A generalized version of Bochner’s theorem on foundation se...

Unexpected Relations Which Characterize Operator Means

We give some characterizations of self-adjointness and symmetricity of operator monotone functions by using the Barbour transform f → t+f 1+f and show that there are many non-symmetric operator means between the harmonic mean ! and the arithmetic mean ∇. Indeed, we show that there exists a non-symmetric operator mean between any two symmetric operator means.

Stochastic Optimal Growth Model with S-Shaped Utility Function

In this paper we examine the problem of nding the optimal solution of the stochastic dynamic growth problem with in nite time horizon for a decision maker described in the prospect theory (PT decision maker) that has asymmetric attitude with respect to a reference level of consumption. We compare the optimal solution of the PT decision maker with the optimal solution of the decision maker with ...
